Ageless Thanet recruiting new Governance Team members

Ageless Thanet has been successfully up and running for close to two years now. In that time, our volunteer Governance Panel has proved instrumental in the successful delivery of the Ageless Thanet project.

Made up of a diverse range of older people (people over the age of 50) from across Thanet, statutory organisations such as Thanet District Council and Thanet Clinical Commissioning Group, not to mention support from Cummins Power Generation, our Governance Panel is fully involved in the design and delivery of the Ageless Thanet Project. With all key decisions being put to our Panel for review, our Panel take a very active role in how Ageless Thanet is run.

At present, we have 6 older people (people over the age of 50) on our Governance Panel. They were recruited as volunteers almost two years ago and, since then, have committed themselves to ensuring Ageless Thanet is truly representing the needs and requirements of Thanet’s older people.

We are now looking to recruit a further two people aged 50+ and resident in Thanet, to join our Governance Panel and strengthen what is already an incredibly strong, positive and diverse team.

If you believe you have what it takes to become a key member of the Ageless Thanet team, we would really like to hear from you. Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Attending monthly governance meetings and actively participating
  • Giving regular feedback on a variety of subjects via e-mail, telephone and in person
  • Participating in training workshops as required
  • Promoting the work of Ageless Thanet publically
  • Attending extraordinary meetings (as required)
  • Getting involved in activity and events across the project

This is a voluntary position, and we are very conscious that people have other commitments, so these are flexible roles. However, the more an individual can be actively involved, the better able they will be to really make a difference and help us in making Thanet a great place to grow older.

Successful candidates will be deeply passionate about improving the lives of Thanet’s older people and keen to make a big difference in their community.

Informal interviews will be held between 1st March and 1st April 2017, and these will be held by Social Enterprise Kent and a member of the Ageless Thanet Governance Panel.

If you would like to express an interest in being a member of the Older People’s Stakeholder Panel, please call us on 01843 210005 or e-mail t.pearce@sekgroup.org.uk. If you require any further information, please visit www.agelessthanet.org.uk.
