Thanks to the fantastic ukulele teacher Jim, we have run several amazing activities for beginners, who have gone on to practice every Monday and Wednesday night at the Ageless Thanet Feelgood Factory and perform at many venues across Thanet. The band is now some 30 strong. They have also applied for and successfully received funding from the Ageless Thanet community fund to pay for more equipment to help more people enjoy this wonderful activity.

Ballet and Tap

We are excited that our amazing dance activity teacher, Jo-Jo will be doing tasters of ballet and tap. Lots of our Ageless Thanet customers have now been going to Jo-Jo’s studio on a regular basis, and have re-kindled their love of dance while making new friends.

Boccia

After its success at the last 50+ Festival, Boccia is back! Boccia is an attack and defend game, with two sides competing over a set number of ends. The aim is to score as many points as possible by placing their set of coloured balls closest to the white jack ball. The Boccia activity we started about 30 months ago has now grown into two groups, who play for fun and compete against other clubs, and have even attended the world championships. The groups were also funded by the Ageless Thanet Community Fund to further develop their group. Come and have a go, you will get hooked!

Following the check each individual will receive, should they wish, free personalised advice and information about what they can do to help reduce or manage that risk and stay healthy.  We can offer onward referral into other free health improvement services in Kent if requested or back to the person’s GP.  The check is also officially recorded onto the individuals’ personal NHS record.

Hula Hoop

Hula Hoop, yes that’s right Hula Hoop! We have been working with the amazing Celine who has created a passionate group of “older Hula Hoopers.” They have been having so much fun that we had to find a bigger venue to accommodate the numbers! Give it a go you will have a blast.
