Enterprising Opportunities

Project Overview

Social Enterprise Kent CIC are proud to be working in partnership with The Folkestone Community Work Programme, managed by Folkestone & Hythe District Council, to deliver and part fund the Enterprising Opportunities Project within the Folkestone Community Led Local Development area (CLLD). The programme is part-funded by the European Structural and Investment Fund 2014-20

Enterprising Opportunities works with established businesses including start-ups, sole traders and the self-employed within the Folkestone CLLD area. In addition it supports residents who are considering starting a business or becoming self-employed.

The Enterprising Opportunities project aims to:

  • Support existing small and medium businesses to improve their governance, HR, apply for funding, access crowdfunding, marketing, business planning or a wide range of other functions in order to become more confident and profitable
  • Support the creation of social enterprises: as a social enterprise we have years of experience in running social enterprises. We can help you explore the benefits of being a social enterprise and assist you to navigate the governance issues.
  • Assist potential entrepreneurs: this is for residents who have an idea to start a business or want to become self-employed but need guidance on how to move the idea into reality. The support can assist you to understand what is required to set-up and run a business such as tax, governance, marketing, business planning, so you feel more confident to move forward.

This support is through 1-2-1 and workshops.
