Course Syllabus
Emergencies in the workplace can happen at any time, and when they do, having someone trained to respond quickly and confidently can make all the difference. This Emergency First Aid at Work course provides essential knowledge and practical skills to manage the most common first aid situations, such as unconscious casualties, bleeding, choking, and cardiac arrest. It’s ideal for workplaces of all sizes and meets the legal requirement to have trained first aiders under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
The course is delivered over one day and includes a mix of hands-on practice, group discussion, and trainer-led demonstrations. Learners will practise life-saving techniques such as CPR and using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), as well as learning how to assess a situation, protect themselves and others, and respond effectively until professional help arrives. Emphasis is placed on practical understanding, so that every learner leaves feeling confident in their role as a first aider.
First aid training is not only about compliance. It’s also about creating a safer, more prepared work environment. Employees who are confident in managing emergencies contribute to a more resilient team and a more secure workplace culture. Even basic actions taken in the first few minutes of an incident can significantly impact someone’s recovery, reduce risk, and even save lives.
This course is suitable for anyone who has been nominated as a first aider at work, as well as those who want to gain practical first aid skills for everyday life. It’s particularly relevant for staff in customer-facing, community-based, or physically active roles, though the content is applicable across all industries.
By the end of the course, participants will hold a nationally recognised Level 3 qualification valid for three years. This qualification provides both individuals and organisations with assurance that essential standards are being met, and that everyone is better prepared should the unexpected happen.
