Course Syllabus
This in-depth course is designed for anyone working or volunteering with children, young people, and families, including those in schools, youth settings, after-school clubs, community groups, and children’s residential care.
Participants will explore the legal and practical safeguarding duties set out in the Children’s Act 2004 and Working Together to Safeguard Children statutory guidance. The course covers types of abuse, with a particular focus on child sexual exploitation, from understanding grooming processes and online risks to recognising why young people may not seek help.
You’ll learn how to spot warning signs, reduce risks, and respond effectively, while clarifying your role within safeguarding frameworks. For those working in children’s homes, the course also reflects the specific expectations under OFSTED’s safeguarding framework and supports integrated multi-agency working.
