Course Content

Equality, diversity, and inclusion are more than compliance requirements — they are essential for building a workplace where everyone feels valued and able to contribute fully. Equality, Diversity and Inclusion is a practical half-day course designed to help staff understand the principles behind EDI and apply them confidently within their organisation.

The session begins with an overview of what equality, diversity, and inclusion mean in everyday practice, exploring why they matter for organisational culture, staff wellbeing, and reputation. Participants examine the key provisions of the Equality Act 2010, including the nine protected characteristics, and discuss what discrimination, harassment, and victimisation look like in real workplace scenarios.

Delegates will also consider their own responsibilities — whether managing teams, recruiting staff, or delivering services — and learn how to apply inclusive principles across recruitment, training, and day-to-day interactions. Case studies highlight how unconscious bias can influence decision-making, while group discussions encourage reflection on personal and organisational behaviours.

The course concludes with practical steps to embed EDI within organisational policies, training, and leadership practices. Attendees will leave with greater confidence in fostering an inclusive culture that supports fairness, accountability, and equal opportunity for all.
