Course Content
The First Aid at Work course is the most comprehensive first aid qualification for workplace settings. Delivered over three days, it is designed for those who are taking on the role of the designated first aider and need a thorough understanding of how to respond to a wide range of emergency situations. This course provides the confidence, skills, and nationally recognised Level 3 qualification required to support staff safety and meet legal obligations.
Throughout the training, learners are guided through practical demonstrations, realistic scenarios, and interactive group discussions. The course covers a broad range of topics including CPR, the safe use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), managing an unconscious casualty, treating wounds and bleeding, dealing with shock, and responding to fractures, burns, and other injuries. Learners will also gain the knowledge to recognise and assist with common medical conditions such as asthma, diabetes, seizures, and allergic reactions.
This course is essential for those working in higher-risk environments such as construction, manufacturing, transport, and large offices. It is equally relevant for schools, charities, retail, hospitality, and other sectors where staff may encounter health emergencies. Whether you work with the public or within a team, having a qualified first aider on site supports compliance with the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and enhances the overall safety of your organisation.
Beyond regulatory compliance, first aid training fosters a culture of care and responsibility. Staff who are equipped to respond in an emergency are a valuable asset, providing reassurance to colleagues and customers alike. The course also promotes calm decision-making and improved communication during stressful events — qualities that are critical when time is of the essence.
Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a Level 3 First Aid at Work certificate, valid for three years. The course is assessed through practical observation and written questions, ensuring each learner can demonstrate their understanding and apply their skills with confidence in a real-world setting.
