Course Content
This course meets the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Statutory Framework, which states that all early years providers must have at least one person on-site at all times with a full paediatric first aid certificate. It also supports compliance with Ofsted standards, giving reassurance to families and helping childcare settings demonstrate robust safeguarding and safety practices.
Learners will be guided through key topics such as CPR for babies and children, choking, unconsciousness, wounds, bleeding, burns, fractures, and shock. The course also covers medical emergencies including asthma attacks, anaphylaxis, seizures, meningitis, and diabetes. Time is also given to the importance of recording incidents and effective communication with families and emergency services. Training is highly practical, using real-world scenarios to help build confidence and apply learning in a meaningful way.
The course is suitable for a wide range of people working in childcare, education, and community roles — including nursery staff, school staff, childminders, after-school club workers, and early years educators. It is also ideal for parents, foster carers, guardians, and grandparents who want to feel confident caring for children of any age.
Delivered by experienced trainers in a supportive environment, the course encourages active participation and ensures that all learners, regardless of previous experience, can contribute and gain valuable life-saving skills. The final assessment includes both practical observations and a multiple-choice theory test to confirm competence.
On completion, learners will be awarded a Level 3 Paediatric First Aid qualification, valid for three years. This course not only helps meet statutory requirements — it empowers people with the ability to act fast, stay calm, and potentially save a child’s life when it matters most.
