Learners will explore what Parkinson’s is, how it develops over time, and the symptoms individuals may experience, both motor and non-motor. The course also covers common support needs, treatment options, and practical approaches for promoting dignity and independence.
This training supports care teams to respond with greater understanding, patience, and flexibility when supporting individuals living with Parkinson’s.

Course Content
Learners will explore both visible and less visible symptoms — including tremors, muscle stiffness, fatigue, and changes in mood or cognition. The course also addresses how Parkinson’s may affect speech, swallowing, and mobility, and what practical actions can help maintain quality of life.
With input from national guidance and resources including Parkinson’s UK and the NHS, this session gives care workers the tools to provide more confident, person-centred support while respecting individual dignity and preferences.
