Delivered face-to-face by experienced trainers, the course covers key fire safety principles and the roles and responsibilities of nominated fire wardens both during normal operations and in emergencies. Course Content

Fire safety is a legal and moral responsibility for every organisation. The Qualsafe Level 2 Award in Fire Safety (RQF) provides a strong foundation for those who play a key role in maintaining safe environments, particularly nominated fire wardens and fire marshals.

This one-day, classroom-based qualification equips delegates with the essential knowledge to identify fire risks, understand fire behaviour, and ensure that appropriate preventative and protective measures are in place. The course aligns with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, which places a duty on employers to provide suitable fire safety arrangements and appoint responsible persons to manage and coordinate safety procedures.

Participants will explore the main causes of workplace fires, the fire triangle, and the ways in which fire and smoke spread. They’ll also learn how to identify and control fire hazards through effective fire prevention, detection, and alarm systems. The course examines means of escape, firefighting principles, and the use of different types of extinguishers, as well as how to carry out safety inspections and document findings accurately.

A key focus is understanding the role of the fire warden or marshal, both on a day-to-day basis and during emergencies. Delegates gain insight into supporting safe evacuation, coordinating responses, and ensuring all staff are aware of procedures through effective communication and training.

The course also provides step-by-step guidance on conducting a fire risk assessment, identifying potential hazards, and implementing control measures. Learners will consider the contents of a fire safety briefing, risk reporting, and how to maintain compliance across their workplace.

By the end of the training, delegates will be equipped with the knowledge to confidently fulfil their responsibilities, contribute to their organisation’s fire safety strategy, and help prevent incidents through awareness and proactive management.

This qualification is delivered face-to-face over one day by qualified trainers and assessed through a multiple-choice exam. It is suitable for staff in all sectors, particularly those with appointed fire safety duties.
