Course Content

Health and safety management is a critical element of every organisation’s success. The FAA Level 3 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace (RQF) equips managers, supervisors, and team leaders with the advanced knowledge required to maintain compliance and promote a culture of safety and wellbeing at work.

This three-day accredited course builds on the principles covered in the Level 1 and Level 2 awards, focusing on leadership responsibilities and effective implementation of health and safety systems. It provides learners with the confidence to assess and manage risks, investigate incidents, and develop proactive strategies for maintaining high safety standards.

Participants gain a deep understanding of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, and other key legislation, including the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR) and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations. They also explore the role of enforcement agencies such as the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and local authorities.

The course examines the financial, legal, and moral costs of poor health and safety management, illustrating how effective safety systems reduce risk, improve productivity, and protect both people and reputation. Learners also cover hazard identification across a wide range of topics, including manual handling, fire safety, hazardous substances, mental health, and the safe use of work equipment.

Through a blend of discussion, case studies, and scenario-based learning, delegates develop practical skills to manage health and safety in line with current UK legislation and best practice. The training concludes with guidance on investigating accidents, reporting incidents, and communicating safety information effectively across teams.

Delivered by qualified NUCO trainers, this course is ideal for those with supervisory or managerial responsibilities, or for anyone progressing toward a formal health and safety role. It also serves as an excellent foundation for more advanced qualifications in occupational health and safety.
