First Aid for Mental Health – Accredited Nuco Level 2

Mental health challenges can affect anyone, at any time. This accredited one-day First Aid for Mental Health course helps learners develop the knowledge, confidence and practical skills to recognise signs of poor mental health, start supportive conversations and respond appropriately when someone may need help.

Suitable for a wide range of workplace and community settings, the course introduces a structured approach to Mental Health First Aid and explores how individuals can contribute to creating supportive, mentally healthy environments.

The Level 2 Award in First Aid for Mental Health is a one-day accredited course that provides learners with the knowledge, confidence and practical tools to recognise, understand and support individuals experiencing mental health difficulties.

The course includes all content from the Level 1 course—such as recognising mental health conditions and initiating supportive conversations, and expands to include the First Aid for Mental Health Action Plan, a practical framework for helping someone in distress. Learners are also introduced to key workplace responsibilities and the role of leadership in shaping a mentally healthy culture.

Substance misuse is also covered in greater detail, exploring how drugs and alcohol can influence mental health and complicate support. The session encourages reflection on how to balance empathy with professional boundaries.

The qualification is suitable for individuals in a wide range of roles, from team members and wellbeing champions to managers and HR professionals. It helps organisations promote wellbeing and build supportive workplace cultures, while giving individuals the confidence to support colleagues, customers or service users appropriately.

Learners who successfully complete the course will receive the Level 2 Award in First Aid for Mental Health, accredited by Nuco Training. The qualification is valid for three years, with annual refresher training recommended to help maintain confidence and keep knowledge up to date.
