This half-day refresher supports care staff to maintain safe practice in assisting individuals with mobility, without the use of hoist equipment. Designed for staff who have already completed full training within the past 12–18 months, it focuses on correct techniques, posture, and confidence through practical application and discussion.

Course Content

This half-day refresher course is for staff who have previously completed full training in moving and assisting people (without hoist) and need to update their knowledge and techniques. Ideal for domiciliary care, supported living, or services not requiring hoist use.

The course covers essential theory including correct posture, assessing risk, and person-centred approaches. The practical session focuses on chair transfers, walking support, and safe repositioning in bed using slide sheets. Trainers will observe and guide participants to correct any bad habits and ensure techniques remain safe for both staff and those receiving care.

Aligned with Care Certificate Standard 13.3, this refresher ensures your team continues to deliver safe, respectful physical support in line with sector standards.
