Social media provides charities, community groups and social enterprises with valuable opportunities to raise awareness, connect with communities, recruit volunteers and promote services. However, limited time and resources can make it difficult to maintain a consistent and effective online presence. This practical one-day course helps participants develop a realistic, sustainable approach to social media that supports organisational objectives.
You’ll explore the strengths of the major social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X and TikTok, helping you identify which channels are most appropriate for your audience and organisational goals. Through discussion and practical examples, you’ll examine what makes content engaging, how to develop an authentic online voice and how to avoid common mistakes that can reduce engagement.
The course introduces practical techniques for planning and managing content, including the Four Pillars content planning model, creating simple content calendars and using storytelling to communicate your organisation’s impact. You’ll also learn how AI tools can support content planning and idea generation while maintaining quality, authenticity and your organisation’s unique voice.
Using platform analytics, you’ll explore how to measure engagement, understand audience behaviour and use performance data to refine future content. Throughout the session, practical exercises allow you to apply your learning to your own organisation, culminating in the creation of a realistic social media content plan that can be implemented immediately.
By the end of the course, you’ll have greater confidence in managing your organisation’s social media presence, creating purposeful content and developing a sustainable strategy that supports long-term organisational success.
