The Level 3 Award in Supervising First Aid for Mental Health is the most comprehensive course in the First Aid for Mental Health suite, providing an in-depth understanding of mental health and the skills needed to support others effectively.
Building on the content covered in Levels 1 and 2, learners explore a wide range of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), psychosis, personality disorders, self-harm and substance misuse. The course examines common signs and symptoms, contributing factors, and the routes available for accessing appropriate support and treatment.
A key element of the course is the Mental Health First Aid Action Plan, which provides a practical framework for supporting someone experiencing mental ill health. Learners will develop the confidence to approach sensitive conversations, listen without judgement, identify potential risks, and understand when concerns should be escalated or referred to professional services.
The course also considers the wider workplace environment and the role leaders can play in promoting positive mental wellbeing. Topics include workplace stress, supportive leadership practices, reducing stigma, and signposting colleagues to internal and external sources of support.
Suitable for supervisors, line managers, HR professionals, wellbeing champions and those with responsibility for supporting staff welfare, this course combines practical discussion with real-world workplace scenarios to help learners apply their knowledge with confidence.
Successful learners will achieve the accredited Level 3 Award in Supervising First Aid for Mental Health through Nuco Training.
