Raising awareness

Bowel cancer, also known as colorectal cancer, is a significant health concern globally, and West Kent is no exception. Early detection through screening can dramatically improve survival rates and overall outcomes for individuals with bowel cancer.

We’ve held regular events to help raise awareness about the importance of self-screening, how and where to order screening kits, and talked about the fact that it’s not a big deal getting a sample and carrying out a home test, but it could save your life!

Information sessions

We held targeted sessions for groups and clubs that already existed, where we delivered an informative and interactive presentation detailing the bowel screening procedure, signposted to further support, and encouraged individuals to feel confident in ordering and completing their bowel screening kit.

Goals

  • Increased awareness

  • Educated the community

  • Boosted screening participation
