Wellbeing Connections

Community Wellbeing Support

in East Kent

What is Wellbeing Connections?

Wellbeing Connections is a community support service for people aged 55+ and adults with complex needs living in Thanet, Dover, and Folkestone & Hythe.

We help people stay independent, manage their health and wellbeing, and access the right support at the right time.

Wellbeing Connections brings together two previous services — Universal Wellbeing and Connect Well — into one single, joined-up programme. If you have used either of those services before, this is now your point of contact.

Who we support

  • People aged 55+

  • Adults with complex needs

  • Residents in Thanet, Dover, and Folkestone & Hythe

What support does Wellbeing Connections offer?

We provide more structured, personalised support for people who:

  • Need ongoing help to manage their health or wellbeing

  • Are finding daily life more challenging

  • May be at risk of needing formal care without additional support

Our team offers practical help, guidance, and one-to-one support tailored to individual needs.

What if I’m looking for social activities or general advice?

If you’re mainly looking for community activities, social groups, or basic information and advice, we can still help by:

  • Signposting you to local community groups

  • Connecting you with relevant services

  • Providing information about other sources of support

We will always aim to make sure you are directed to the right help for your situation.

What some of our participants have said:

“If I didn’t get picked up and brought here, I would do nothing at all as I have no access to transport. I come here and enjoy the meals the activities and most of all mixing with others. It stops me feeling isolated and I can talk to staff about my worries too."
“The great thing about learning at my age is that it is keeping my body and mind active but more importantly I am also part of a community who have immense experience and who look out for each other. Everyone has been so kind and supportive, we have made new friends and life has more purpose. Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave side in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "Holy ****" what a ride!"
"I was in great pain and could not straighten my right leg, also an old fracture in my upper spine sustained as a child was causing pain and affecting nerves in my spine... At first, I could not stand without holding onto the side of the pool. The lifeguards do a sterling job getting me in and out of the water. The support, advice and encouragement has inspired me to push myself further every week and now I can do freestanding exercises and walk the length and breadth of the pool. Even the other attendees have commented on my progress."
"I cannot stress enough that the different activities you offer were a life saver for me. I laughed at the thought of nordic walking. I thought it was naff, but after the first couple of weeks, Loz was so lovely and welcoming and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The benefits of exercise both physically, mentally and socially have been enormous and I cannot thank you enough."
