Moving and Assisting People – Refresher (Without Hoist)

Safe moving and assisting is about more than technique. It helps protect the people you support, reduces the risk of injury, and supports safer working for staff and carers by promoting good practice, safer movement, and back care. Our Moving and Assisting People training is designed for care teams who support adults, young people, or people with mobility needs across residential, community, education, and supported living settings.

Training is practical, relevant, and built around the environments your team works in every day. Depending on the course selected, sessions can cover key theory such as legislation, back care, risk assessment, handling plans, and the safe use of moving equipment. Practical elements may include chair transfers, support with walking, wheelchair transfers, mobile and standing hoists, slide sheets, ETAC systems, and safer repositioning techniques.

We offer a range of course options, including full day, refresher, hoist-based and non-hoist training, so you can choose the format that best suits your team and service. If your staff use specific equipment, support people with particular mobility needs, or need training tailored to your setting, we can adapt the session to reflect this. Simply let us know what your team needs when booking, and we will make sure the training is relevant, practical, and right for your service.
