Supporting teams across Social Enterprise Kent

Social Enterprise Kent works across Kent to support individuals, communities, and local organisations. Our teams rely on strong administrative support to help services run smoothly and ensure people can access the help they need.As a volunteer, you may support different departments across SEK, and you will be placed where your skills, interests, and availability best match the needs of the organisation. This also gives you the chance to gain experience across a range of office and support functions.


What you’ll be doing

As a Volunteer Office & Administration Support, you may help with:

  • Answering and making phone calls, and passing on messages
  • Booking, updating, and confirming appointments
  • Collecting and recording information and data
  • Entering and updating information on spreadsheets (e.g. Excel)
  • Carrying out basic fact checking and data updates
  • Supporting general office and administrative tasks
  • Helping keep records, files, and information organised
  • Assisting with other day-to-day office tasks as needed

You will be guided through tasks and supported at all times. There is no expectation to do everything, and duties can be adapted to suit your confidence and skills.

When and where

  • Locations: SEK Ashford and SEK Margate
  • Placement: Based on where support is needed and where you fit best
  • Commitment: Flexible – even a few hours can make a difference
  • Days/times: Agreed with you and the team (usually Mon–Fri, 9am–5pm)

Who can volunteer?

You do not need previous office or administrative experience. This role suits people who:

  • Are friendly, reliable, and willing to learn
  • Are comfortable using a computer and basic office software
  • Like being organised and supporting others
  • Are happy working as part of a team
  • Want to gain experience that could support future job applications

You may occasionally speak with members of the public or partners by phone. Support will always be available, and you will not be expected to deal with anything on your own.

All volunteers receive an induction, training, and ongoing support. There may also be opportunities to volunteer in other SEK projects if you wish.

  • Role title: Volunteer Office & Administration Support (Ashford & Margate)
  • Responsible to: Team Leads and Volunteer Coordinator
  • Hours: Typically 2–4 hours per week (flexible)
  • Days/times: Monday to Friday, during normal business hours (9am–5pm), agreed with you and the team
  • Locations: SEK Ashford (22 Bank Street, Ashford, Kent TN23 1BE) and Head Office Margate (63–65 High Street, Margate, Kent CT9 1DX)
  • Requirements: Adhere to the Volunteer Agreement, policies, and code of conduct
